Blizzard preparing ‘End of Eternity’ update for World of Warcraft Shadowlands
On November 11, 2021, Blizzard Entertainment announced another update for the popular online game World of Warcraft, which received a major addition called Shadowlands only a year ago. Long-awaited for players from around the world, Shadowlands has opened the veil on another side of the familiar world of Azeroth and let them into the realm of the souls of the dead. In it beloved legendary heroes need help to cast off the shackles of the Jailer and return to the real world, or they will remain there forever, suffering eternal imprisonment.
What’s in store for players in new Warcraft?
The Shadowlands add-on has given players extremely different, vibrant and picturesque locations:
- Bastion – a world of winged Kyrie, who prefer tall white towers;
- Ardenveld – a wilderness world inhabited by nocturnal folk in a perpetual forest;
- Maldraxus – the abode of eternal war and necromancers;
- Revendret – a gothic world inhabited by sinful venters;
- Womb, a hopeless land of suffering souls ready to break free.
Shadowlands has seen many changes to the character level system, with new dungeons, rewards, power-ups, transport and companions traditionally added. And the latest summer update, Chain of Dominance, has added the area of Cortia, referred to as the “city of mystery”, to the game. Cortia is located in the Womb, but has a completely different design, its own story and meaning, as well as new factions and accompanying quests with rewards.
Blizzard’s current announcement promises the addition of a campaign called End of Eternity, a major update with new features:
- questing campaign;
- a new raid;
- the Zeret Maurice zone;
- an update to the professions;
- new pets and vehicles.
The questline is a continuation of the chain with the Jailer attempting to take over Zeret Maurice, the laboratory where the Forerunners once built their afterworlds, to take over the world. The new zone doesn’t live by the usual laws of physics, with the developers reporting on the need to move around in it by water.
Also interesting is the implementation of a new quest line of Forerunners, who, according to the story, speak an unusual language that’s beyond the comprehension of mortals. This cipher will be deciphered by players along with an assistant vehicle, which will bring interesting quests, including daily ones, as well as new events and rewards.
A new raid, The Tomb of the Forerunners, promises to give players the key to unlocking the plans of a Jailer who wants to take over the power of the Forerunners, and a meeting with Zovaal as well as the king of Stormgrad, Anduin Rynn, who is in the shackles of magic.
In addition, Blizzard have announced the return of class armour sets, available to obtain in epochal dungeons, PvP battles and raids, giving bonuses to enhance each character’s unique abilities. The authors also promise a number of new pets and vehicles, upgrades to familiar professions and covenant guides.
An exact release date for End of Eternity has not yet been given, but the update will be released very soon, according to the developers. More detailed information on all of the features will be available closer to the release date and once the update begins testing.
